Project Overview and Challenges:
- This project involved upgrading Terminal 1, the oldest terminal with a 40-year operational history, to enhance passenger transit between level 2 gate hold room and level 1 bus gate. The key scope included installation of M&E services, new lifts and escalators to facilitate this movement.
- The main challenge was the lack of as-built drawings for the existing M&E services, which required extensive site surveys to identify and trace services and cablings suspended above the ceiling. Some existing services extended over 1 km, connecting to other airport terminals, making the process very time-consuming.
- To overcome these challenges, we assembled a team of experienced airport technicians specialized in M&E services tracing and diversion. Their expertise allowed us to accurately map out the existing systems and plan the necessary M&E services diversions for the new infrastructure.
- Despite the tight deadline, our team successfully completed the fit-out, managed all diversions effectively, and handed over the project to the client on time. This effort minimized disruptions and ensured a smooth upgrade for better airport passenger transit experience.
